Putnam County Sheriff Deputy Shane Rossiter was on patrol at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20 near the intersection of Route 6 and Simpson Road in Carmel when he pulled over a 2008 Dodge Charger for an expired inspection on his vehicle.

During the subsequent stop, it is alleged that it was determined that the driver, area resident Todd Carmody, 39, was in possession of cocaine, Suboxone, and marijuana, prompting Rossiter to take him into custody.

Carmody was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was also cited for an uninspected vehicle. Following his arrest, Carmody was released and scheduled to appear in the Town of Southeast Court on Friday, Feb. 26 to respond to the charges.
